Why do YOU write?

Recently I was asked what kind of person would be interested in reading a blog like mine..

This was an interesting question because when I started writing in this little place in cyberspace I had no reader expectations. I was looking for a vaguely anonymous place to let my thoughts spill out. I became more comfortable sharing myself after the first few months of not being found by anyone I knew in my daily life.

To this day my friends and family know I blog, but not about what or where.

And that is good.

As I continue to write about my life, the interesting, not so interesting and sometimes completely absurd, I grow a deeper appreciation for my little hiding place. I share things here about my life and the people in it that are only mine to share because I walk in it daily, but if my loves knew where to find me I would have to censor myself and my take on my own life. Which would eventually lead to the end of my blog. And like a paper diary or a childhood friend who moves away, I would miss it terribly.

When there is something burdening my heart or enveloping me in joy, this is the place I come to. I have built connections with some very beautiful people which is a gift I never dreamed of receiving...

So my question to you all it this..

Why did you start writing? Have your reasons changed? Do you have to hide or are you out and proud? ;)

Im curious...

Firstly, hello and I miss you!

Secondly, I started writing about a subject that I am passionate about - Mental Illness, and to help reduce the stigma and educate people

I now write about a bunch of crap I don't really care about. I am kinda out, but not at all proud. I would much rather be anonymous again, and still have a voice.

I write to tell the truths about adoption, my purpose hasn't changed.I'm out and proud, my dear ones know but don't read me. I have plenty of readers who do and I've come to like it that way.

What a great question to answer! I started blogging as you did, anonymously, but as months passed I felt more comfortable and put a picture of myself as my profile. But my family doesn't know I blog...only my best friend has actually read it. My reason for blogging was to get it off my chest how I struggle with Bipolar illness because I see a blog as therapeutic and it is free. Once the stresses I go through were confessed via blog I changed my topics to other lighter topics.
